The Rugged Obsidian 9 is a modular 9mm suppressor optimized for pistols, carbines, and PCCs, and rated for .300 BLK subsonic and 350 Legend with applicable barrel length minimums. In standard configuration it measures 7.8 inches and weighs 12.7 oz. With the ADAPT Module removed it drops to 4.85 inches and 8.7 oz. Both configurations ship with one tax stamp. The Obsidian 9 has a 1.37-inch diameter, which keeps it compatible with standard pistol suppressor-height sights so you can run irons or a red dot without changing your sight setup. Rugged Suppressors' testing places the Obsidian 9 at 120.9 dB at the shooter's ear.

The defining feature is ADAPT Modular Technology. The Obsidian 9 ships with a separate ADAPT Module that threads onto the main suppressor body to extend it from the short 4.85-inch configuration to the full 7.8-inch configuration. The short configuration contains a main baffle stack with 5 baffles: one blast baffle, two core baffles, one module baffle, and one short baffle. The ADAPT Module adds 7 more baffles for a total of 12 across the full configuration, increasing internal volume and sound attenuation. Each baffle features 3 indexing tabs that ensure proper alignment during reassembly, so there is only one correct way for the stack to go back together. The baffles also create a gas seal between the stack and the tube that virtually eliminates carbon migration into that interface, which is the primary cause of stuck baffles and difficult disassembly in pistol suppressors.
The non-slotted piston design creates a full-circumference gas seal around the piston, substantially reducing gas blowback to the shooter. Slotted pistons, which are the standard design on most competing suppressors, allow gas to escape through the slots creating partial sealing only. The Obsidian 9 non-slotted piston eliminates that gap. Obsidian 9 pistons are also cross-compatible with SilencerCo slotted pistons, meaning shooters with SilencerCo-threaded hosts can run the Obsidian 9 without purchasing new host hardware.
The 17-4 stainless steel mount uses strategic engraving placement over the thickest cross-section of the steel. If the mount ever becomes damaged beyond repair, it can be replaced independently without returning the entire suppressor. Rugged backs every Obsidian 9 with their Unconditional Lifetime Warranty: no fine print, no exclusions based on how damage occurred, and an average warranty service turnaround of 16 business hours.
Rugged Suppressors engineers to exacting standards. Here's exactly what you're getting.
The Obsidian 9 is fully user-serviceable. Rugged Suppressors recommends cleaning pistons, springs, and baffles with an ultrasonic cleaner using a 50/50 mixture of Purple Power and water for approximately one hour, then removing and allowing to dry. The suppressor tube, ADAPT Module body, front cap, and spring retainer are aluminum and must not be used in an ultrasonic cleaner. Use a non-ammonia based cleaner and brush for those components. When running a booster system, lubricate the outside of the piston with white lithium grease. Check that the suppressor remains securely threaded every 30 rounds during use.
